A summary of recent innovations in radiation oncology focussing on the principles of different techniques and their application. An overview of clinical results has also been given. Dealt with are 3D CRT , IMRT, IGRT, Adaptive Radiotherapy, Image Guided Brachytherapy, Stereotactic Radiotherapy and their clinical applications. There are three disciplines of oncology which include; surgical oncology that deals with the surgical part of cancer including biopsy, staging and resection of tumors. Radiation oncology deals with treatment of cancer using therapeutic radiation. Oncology therefore, is a branch of medicine that concentrates on cancer or tumors.
